Thanksgiving food gets a bad rap. Sure, there are holiday staples that are really fatty and full of carbs, but there are a few that aren’t so unhealthy. Did you know that there are two dishes that are actually beneficial for you? These two foods are actually GOOD for your teeth:
Yams
Did you know that sweet potatoes have health benefits for your mouth? Yams are full of both vitamins A and C, which benefits your gums and supports their health. With healthy gums, you are at much less risk of gingivitis, or other gum-related ailments. However, if you’re like the millions of families who likes their yams candied (who doesn’t?), this might be a good dish to skip if you have cavities. Everything in moderation is fine, but make sure you drink lots of water afterwards to remove the sugar from the surface of your teeth!
Mac & Cheese
So as I’m sure you can tell right now, these foods might not necessarily be diet friendly. BUT, they do have benefits for your teeth! The calcium in cheese, like all dairy, not only helps keep bones strong but teeth as well. Like we said, everything in moderation!
