Make an Investment in Your Health with All-on-Four Implants
Recently, the All-on-Four (also known as Teeth in a Day or same-day dental implants) procedure has become popular. To understand what this procedure is, first a word about dental implants.
An implant is a small titanium screw that is inserted into your jawbone with a surgical procedure and replaces the root part of a missing tooth. Once the implant is in place, a crown is attached to the top, resulting in a realistic looking and functional artificial tooth.
The All-on-Four dental implant can make it possible to replace the entire upper or lower full arch of your teeth with only four precisely placed implants. It provides you with the ability to receive a fixed (permanent) replacement of your teeth on the day of the surgery. The immediate benefits are obvious:
- Rapid improvement in the quality of your life – it is no longer necessary to wait weeks or months while you get used to traditional dentures. They do not need to be taken out to be cleaned and can be brushed like natural teeth. They do not press down on your gums and there is no need to use adhesives. They look, feel, and function like your natural teeth.
- Prevents bone deterioration and restores your facial features – when you are missing teeth, the bone in your jaw can begin to resorb into your body. It is the teeth in your jaw which prevents this process by stimulating the jaw when chewing and biting. With this procedure the titanium screw begins to fuse with your jawbone immediately providing the needed support for your new teeth.
- Shorter treatment times – the positioning of the implants in the back avoid the need for time-consuming bone grafting procedures. And, the ability to immediately attach the teeth to the implants shortens the time also.
- Lower costs – since you are only receiving four implants it can be less expensive than conventional implants which are greater in number, usually six to eight (or more). Implants are more expensive than regular removable dentures; however, when looking at a lifetime of wear, they are remarkably cost effective.
- Long lasting – if you care for them properly, they can possibly last a lifetime. They require maintenance just like your natural teeth. You will need to return to the dentist three to four times a year for cleaning and adjustments.
After your procedure, temporary teeth will be fitted into your mouth, your new smile will look and feel great. Since the implants do take some time to heal and fuse to your jawbone, you will return to the dentist office in about six-months to have your new customized permanent teeth inserted.
Not everyone can have this procedure done. The condition of your own mouth will determine whether this is the right process for you. A consultation with our dentist can help you make this important decision.
